Your responsibilities include:

  • Sampling plants in the greenhouse
  • Performing laboratory analyses, including microscopy, ELISA, DNA extractions, and qPCR
  • Maintaining contact with external laboratories for specialized testing
  • Assessing, interpreting, and recording analysis results
  • Communicating results and recommendations to colleagues in the Netherlands and abroad
  • Managing laboratory inventory and ordering supplies
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Monitoring quality, safety, and work processes
  • Supporting a safe, clean, and well-organized working environment

What we expect from you

  • A completed MBO or HBO degree in laboratory technology, biology, biotechnology, or a related field
  • Availability of 32 to 40 hours per week
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Experience with microscopy, ELISA, and PCR techniques
  • Strong communication skills
  • An accurate, independent, and proactive working style
  • Good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written
  • Affinity with plant breeding or plant pathology is an advantage
  • A quality-focused and solution-oriented mindset

Our promise to you

  • A salary ranging from €2,987.58 to €4,028.10 gross per month (salary scale G of the Dutch Greenhouse Horticulture Collective Labour Agreement), depending on your knowledge and experience

What will you do?

As an All-Round Laboratory Technician / Laboratory Technologist / Analyst at HilverdaFlorist, you play an important role in safeguarding the health, quality, and reliability of our plants. Your work is varied and takes place in the greenhouse, the laboratory, and the office. In this versatile position, you combine hands-on work with advanced laboratory analyses and international collaboration.

You will examine plant samples for the presence of pathogens and specific traits and perform analyses according to established protocols. You are not only responsible for carrying out analyses but also for critically evaluating results and identifying risks, opportunities, and improvements.

A successful laboratory technician at HilverdaFlorist goes beyond performing analyses correctly. You think ahead, identify abnormalities before others notice them, and translate diagnostic results into practical recommendations for colleagues. In doing so, you make a direct contribution to breeding, production, and phytosanitary decision-making.

You work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities. At the same time, you collaborate closely with colleagues in the Netherlands and at our international locations. You actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, where quality, collaboration, and respect are central.
